I don't like loose ends. I want to know what happens in the end, the conclusion to situations, the outcome. Wasn't "Roots" a mini-series like that? It held my attention every minute. Good question, BTW --- (+pts.2.U.)

It would be nice if the writers could wrap up a lot sooner than 10 seasons! Yest at 3-4 is not enough. 5 to 8 years. Lost is already into it's 4th season yet I would like them to wrap it up sooner than later. I use to read all of Stephen King's books but the Gunslinger series pissed me off to the max and don't read his long winded 600 page books no more!

I'm big into quality over quantity, and, actually, leaving questions unanswered can be very dramatically effective if done right. So, I would say the former.

I, personally, like long series. It doesn't even have all to do with questions (new ones can come up along the way). It's an investment in knowing and liking the characters. You begin to empathise with them. In a short series, about the time you get ALL of them into your heart and mind, ZAP... it's over. In the long series, even if a favorite leaves (or is killed or both), the others you've come to like can help you transition to a new character. Look at MASH. 11 seasons, and was STILL a highly ranked series at the end. The final show was one, if not THE, highest ranked TV show of ALL TIME. Why? Because we'd ALL become so invested in all the charactrers. Still, they killed of Henry Blake, Trapper John left, and even Frank left. They brought in Col Potter, BJ, and Charles, completely different characters, causing completely different interactions, but we grew to love them, too. Look at Law and Order... CSI... or any of their "versions"... We love the crime-fighting, but we love the characters and they way THEY interact at least as much. No... Long series, please. ;-)

I would much rather have the longer plot. I hate series that leave loose ends...
