My 1994 Ford Explorer radio and clock stopped working. Occasionally when I start the car they will turn on, but after I push 3 or 4 buttons, or turn off and try to start the car, the radio will turn off again. What is the problem?

Sounds like the power cord to the radio is loose or has a short. Most places that install radios can fix it. If you want to fix it yourself, you have to have the tool to remove the radio. (it fits in the slots on the side of the radio, two tiny holes on each side on the front, and its usually a plastic arm that is made for that radio. The radio will pull straight out the front.)

In addition, you may want to check to see if your vehicle is included in Ford's massive recall...something about a faulty switch causing the vehicle to catch fire. According to a website, this faulty switch can cause fuse problems with other things as well.

Power cord sounds likely. But before you tear out your radio check your fuse. This is rare, but sometimes a fuse can come on and off.
