Why do most people who want to lose weight always look for the weight loss answer in a pill form instead of removing their bodies from the couch and breaking a sweat by exercising?

Many people have gained the wieght in the first place by being too busy (sitting at a desk for 8 hrs a day & then in a car for another 2) to make time to work out/exercise. They probably feel that a pill is more realistic thing to make happen. I think most people wish they had the time or energy to work out, but it isn't realistic for people who need to work, sleep, commute, study, cook, shower, do laundry, go food shopping, see family...

For the same reason you take shortcuts in your own life. It is human nature to act like water, taking the path of least resistance.

  • Well, I have tried it your way and lost a grand total of 5 pounds in one year.

And what would you suggest for the disabled whose disability not only creates a sedentary lifestyle that puts on the weight but also prevents them from undertaking vigorous exercise?

    Any more self-righteous questions????

Maybe because its easier and gives you very FAST results; with exercise it takes longer to see results. Also, some people may not have the time to wait 3-4 weeks to lose weight i.e wedding coming up or whatever.

I can address that. I have had a weight problem my entire life. I don't sit on the couch. I don't over-eat, I play softball and go to the gym three times a week. I finally had gastric by-pass surgery and the weight came off. I have kept it off for 4 years doing the same things I was doing trying to lose it. I think everyone's situation is different. I would have never lost that weight without the help of surgery and the support of others without the same problem. Most everyone that says fat people are lazy and don't eat right have never had a weight problem, but you very well may when you grow up!

Because they are not confident. And they think that if they do it for themselves that it will be too hard or they will fail. they take the easy, dangerus way out, the pill.

Because Human Beings are inherently a very selfish and lazy species.

It took a trip to the emergency room with chest pains, a 99% blockage and an emergency angioplasty, at the “young” age of 42, before I decided that maybe this exercise thing wasn’t such a bad idea. I’m currently fitter than I was twenty years ago and should see many more years of being an irritating know-it-all on AnswerBag before I finally kick the bucket.

    Hope this helps.

because they have no will power & pushing themselves to exercise is hard work. so they're always looking for the easy way out, a pill that can work wonders even when you do CRAP.

I grew up in the 50's and we didn't have a tv, computers, blackberries, cell phones, Gyms, etc, etc, You got bored as hell sitting around on the couch. Every kid I know was outside digging up something to do. The only time you were in the house was when you had to or it was time to jump in bed and listen to the Green Hornet, Lone Ranger, The Shadow, etc. Now the kids got everything handed to them and they sit on the couch whining I'm bored there isn't anything to do Amazing absolutely amazing. Glad my kid don't think that he's been reading since 5, at 16 traveled to 22 countries by himself We didn't have money to pay for his higher learning so he got himself on want to be a millionaire and won enough to start school now in second year of school straights A's, on the Deans list, spent the first semester in Costa Rica taking political science and Spanish. The boy dreams then does it he hasn't got time to get bored. Plans on going to OCS and spend some time in the service for money to get his masters. My time he's 30 or so will have his law degrees. He bike rides, hikes not an ounce of fat on him. He's done more in 20 years then some people did in a life. If you have a email I'll give you the link to his journal if you care to take a look.

  • Because it's easier.
Though sometimes people really can't lose weight even if they exercise and eat well.. In which case I think it's better to just stay healthy and accept your body the way it is.

I think it is because our society craves instant gratification in the short term over long term results even if they are permanent.

A put some extra weight a few years ago and did what our moms used to tell us: eat well from the five food groups, don't eat processed junk from outside, don't overeat, drink lots of water and exercise at least 30 mins a day.

Even though I didn't have as much to lose, it took me about 6 months, but it was gone for good. I now hit the gym 5 times a week - yoga, pilates, and isometric weight training. Good for the soul!

Having said that, I don't think it is the fault of people who want to lose weight either. Society places so much emphasis on weight and looks that I am sure many get depressed under the pressure. Others get a little rebellious and say to heck with it.

I say, love yourself no matter how you look. Stay healthy however you can.

It's human nature to want to do it the easy way. You'll notice on those so called "diet" pills, the disclaimer says they will work "with proper diet and exercise." My question is, "Why do you need the pill, then?"

I believe our society is to blame by preying on people with these get-fit-quick fixes. Really, motivation and accountability are key I believe. I joined team beachbody and am now accountable as a coach which forces me to remain fit. Check it out at www.burkhardtbody.com login: goteam
It really is a great system with monetary benefits to boot.

Zotrim claims to help you lose 5 per cent of your body fat in six weeks. Also claims to be the only natural weight-loss product with scientific proof that it actually works.

    Done. never again.

Simple. It's easier to lose weight with pills. Although it is recommended you exercise while taking pills for maximum results.
