  • Have you tried the patch, sometimes it works very well with some people.
  • hi zubra, babieeeee, you have to substitue smoking with a hobby that you like even more.....of course, it will never be easy to quit smoking because you're really hooked....it will take a lot of conviction on your part to quit.
  • Are you using something like Nicorett or some other form of quitting smoking agent? I used Nicoderm CQ ( I would have killed someone without it). It helped me and it's been over a year since I had a puff.
  • Must have the will. You can use paches talk to docters etc etc etc. However if you do nto have the will power it will not happen
  • Sorry but not too encouraging news for you. Firstly, if you really don't want to give it up just now the trying and failing is what will happen. You really have to want to give it up and be prepared mentally for it. If you are bored then your focus will be on wanting a cigarette and that will increase your chances of not stopping and if you aren't well just now, then while smoking is probably one of the worst options for you it will make it harder to give it up. When you are ready, can you try nicotine patchs? Can you try them now? That's what finally worked for me. Speak to your nurse about your options. Do you have a quit line available. That can help too. Only other suggestions is to drink water when you fancy a smoke, if at all possible go for a walk too, just a short one to take your focus away from smoking. Try an avoid coffee and friends who smoke for a while. I found that I used to get panicky because people would ask me questions or similar and I used to light a smoke to give me time to think up answers or work out a plan or something and all of a sudden I didn't have that time because I didn't smoke - so for several months afterwards I took smoke breaks just to give myself time to relax and get control again and I learned to 'take five' when necessary. It has been 5 and a half years since I gave up and sometimes I still get a urge for a smoke, it passes quickly so when you do finally give up be prepared for little smoke urges, they eventually lose their power but can be a little disconcerting. Good luck I hope this has helped and I also hope you will be feeling better soon.
  • In my martial art, 60% of the black belt test is based on one simple concept ... the student needs to be able think of themselves as two halves of the same person (without developing multiple personality disorder) ... they must think of themselves as a strict master who gives wise commands ... and they must think of themselves as a trusting and obedient slave ... Command yourself to "do this, do not do that" ... and then obey yourself ... be your own master, do exactly what you wisely know is best for you and your health ... __________ ... kissing a smoker is like licking a dirty ashtray ... ... just how many vitamins are in a cigarette anyway ??? ... how will smoking improve your health ??? __________ Deep down, you know quitting is the right thing to do ... be the strict master and order yourself to stop ... and then be the slave that obeys without hesitation, without question ... do not let the cigarette be the master !!!
  • Smoking is an addiction. The cure goes much deeper than you have ever imagined. Childhood issues, worldview issues, emotional issues, lack of faith in god issues, etc... 3 years and 2 months clean and sober.
  • Buy a vaporizer. If you can't quit tobacco, using a vaporizer to consume it is much safer. There is much less tar in the vapor and virtually no carbon monoxide. I vaporize drum tobacco. This is the next best thing if you can't quit. I've quit smoking a few times, but it seems like I'd subsequently face an incredibly stressful situation and turn right back to smoking to help me cope. Maybe I'll be able to quit using the vaporizer someday, but if I can't, the adverse health consequences will not be nearly as severe. --- I can't even smoke a cigarette now as inhaling the products of tobacco combustion seems much more disgusting.
