  • It's probably just how they track people, because there are people who are habitual returners of things like for example: buy a new item, put an old item in the box and seal it up nice and take it back and get money back saying someone got them a duplicate gift or something like that. And people who always buy stuff at stores that offer double the money back, and take things back saying it's spoiled or dented or whatever.
  • The magnetic strip on the back contains your soul! HE STOLE YOUR SOUL!!!! Not really, they just want to keep track of who is returning what and how often. I've had my ID checked when I've returned things to, it's becoming very common at large chain stores.
  • It will not effect any of those things. Returns become such a big problem with criminals that unfortunately they ruin it for the legitimate people. All they were doing is making sure that your information is in the system- it's a way to track who returns what and how often. That way they can tell who is a criminal and who is not. Since you seemed alarmed by this process, I'm assuming you don't return very often, and therefore should not be worried about it.
  • alls it is is that walmart is getting tired of getting ripped off by people stealing crasp and then going back to return it for cash. It's only for their record in case the item comes up stollen they have you id info
