it's been tried several times with not much real success....being an "independent" is about as close as it gets~ there is enough money streaming into both the democratic and republican parties to "stomp out" any new players......i would like to see us, as a country, try to make the 2 that we have~work for "the people" again instead of adding a 3rd failure~ just a thought :)

Actually, when Teddy Roosevelt ran in the 1912 election as a part of the Bull Moose party, he was very successful, but he still lost to Wilson. Third parties, like the Populists and the Progressives have changed our nation even though thier candidates never won any presidential election. Today, I would like to see a new party, but hopefully it wouldn't be a conservative one...

Even if you guys do introduce a new party, your system is so stale. You'll just continue to vote pretty much one in and one out every time. Maybe because you have little choice?? Perhaps then a new party would not go amiss.

I do think it's time we had a viable third party but the media, who seems to run things, just ignores any other party like the green party or libertarian party.

I hope (pray!) that no one bombards me with negs for this Answer, but I would like to know what the change is that so many people want in their government. How can there be change if they keep working within the guidelines of how America's government is set up? How long would it take to make that change, and how many would go along with someone trying? With parties like the Green Party, the Liberal Party, and others, that never get voted in, how serious can the desire for change really be? An opportunity for change has often been offered with the majority of voters still choosing the same parties. So, what is the change you would like to see our government, whichever party gets into office, make? And how could they do it? How much change can one party (a new one) make in four years? I really don't know.
