His final end was tragic allright, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a laugh or two along the way. Here are a couple of links that have a take on the subject: http://lombard.il.us.mennonite.net/.cWcustom/Archives/Sermons/2002/2002-04-14%20Taking%20Humor%20Seriously%20-%20Friesen.htm http://www.geocities.com/binnyva/bible/articles/humor.html

I got the impression he was kind of a prick, actually -- he causes a fig tree to wither and die for not having fruit, when figs weren't even in SEASON at the time! That's just being petty...

Many of Jesus's parables and sayings are quaint and funny ... I feel assured if not a veritable stand upo comedian, he was exceptionally good company and and scintillating conversation was one of his many great attributes. He has a love of the people, those beautiful heavenly souls stuck here in what is at times a dastardly hell. It is called humanity. He was also a very strong character, charming and charismatic. We were blessed to be loved by one as he. Be Loved.

Why not? He lived and breathed like us. Why not have a sense of humor? Is it that hard to believe?

You can have a very serious job to do but that doesn't make you a dour non-smiling person. He was a child like any other child and as an adult little children loved approaching him. They weren't scared but were drawn to him. I'm sure he smiled often and was kind and helpful to people, and being a warm hearted person usually means you have humor and can enjoy things like good wine and good friends. When you see creation and the signs of humor in how an animal looks or the way animals play with each other, how could someone who made such things, not have a sense of humor just because they have work. Creation was work, too, very serious work.

Just consider a couple of incidents. He walks up to this guy who's been lying on a mat near Bethesda Pool for 38 years hoping for a miracle and says "Do you want to get well?" The man must have been utterly dumbfounded. Or calling Peter "Rock." Peter was born Simon bar Jonah and Jesus renamed him Peter, which means Rock. Normally people think of a rock as something solid, but Peter was a fisherman and to a fisherman a rock can mean sudden disaster. I'll bet everyone was aware of that!
