In 1927 January 7 - First transatlantic telephone call is made: New York City to London. February 16 - Noel Coward's "Marquise," premieres in London February 26 - New distance record, 7,287 miles (11,723 km.), established for radio telephone conversation, with successful communication between San Francisco and London. April 19 - "Vagabond King" opens in London August 22 - In Hyde Park, London, 200 people demonstrate against the sentence of Sacco and Vanzetti. December 12 - 1600 people hospitalized in London when they had hurt themselves on the icy streets. In 1927 Baird transmitted a signal over 438 miles of telephone line between London and Glasgow. In 1928 Baird's company (Baird Television Development Company / Cinema Television) broadcast the first transatlantic television signal, between London and New York, and the first shore-to-ship transmission. He also demonstrated an electromechanical color, infrared (dubbed "Noctovision"), and stereoscopic television, using additional lenses, disks and filters.
