I imagine that was a bit frightening. I am glad that you are ok! I have been run off of the road by an asshole. They were an older couple who would not let me merge onto a highway. The driver smiled at me as he did it. I also was run off the road on a motorcycle by someone who was unobservant. He pinned my leg between his car door and my tank as he did it. Neither were drunk.

Fortunately I never have but I hope you're okay!! What a frightening experience!!

A guy was sitting perpendicular in the middle of the road passed out in the drivers seat of his car. I pulled up to see what was going on. His eyes were open but he wasn't moving. I thought he was dead. I honked my horn three times and he didn't move. I got out of my car and touched him and he came out of what ever trance he was in. He put his car in drive and took off almost running me over. I jumped in my car and called the cops and started following him. He was in a neighbor hood driving all over the place, on peoples lawns and hit two parked cars. He eventually pulled into a school parking lot and starting zoning out again. The cops where taking forever so I figured if I told the school about him they would get the cops there in a hurry, and they did. The guy was a herion junkie just out of rehab. He stole methadone and was shooting it up in his car just before I found him in the road. Either way in the US if you are caught with or using drugs on or in a school zone your screwed.

Glad you're Ok :-) The traffic here is insane, one of the really bad things about our glitzy part of the middle east, alcohol is supposed to be a no-no but even my inebriated boss walking home from a party got run over by another, even more drunk driver!

Oh, yeah. Many times. It has happened at all times of the day and night. I have a really bad attitude toward drunk drivers. Their penalties should be much worse than they usually are. I have had several friends killed by DD's.

Yes, I have a closer call than that. It was 8:37 AM, I was a passenger in a small car with my three computer software partners ... we had just completed a computer programmer & systems analyst course that ran from 1992 to 1994 (before Windows 95) ... we started our own software company rather than looking for jobs with some existing company ... we were on our way to our very first meeting with our very first client ... a drunk driving a large one ton pickup truck, with a bush bumper and winch on the front, came speeding through a red light and hit us broad side. The drunk died, my three partners died, and I was injured, but lived.

I was heading out to do errands at about 9am. I was in the left lane, a truck was in the right lane next to me (pickup). We were both stopped at a light. It turned green, and I had to veer left as he was drifting into my lane right off the line. I let it go as maybe a simple error or slip of the hand. At the next light, the same thing happened. This time he almost took off my mirror. He also gunned it right after. So, I gunned it and followed him for the next 20mins until a patrol car was able to pull him over. Never heard if he was drunk or not, but he almost hit several curbs while I was following him. I've followed several drunks, but that's the first time I've come close to getting into a collision with one. I'm criticized for it by my friends, but I never have a drop of alcohol if I need to drive. I don't want to be a statistic...

I, personally have not, but a boy at my high school was hit by a drunk driver after Homecoming (the drunk wasn't a high school kid either). One year later, there is still his small monument set up at the corner in front of that Walgreens where he was hit. And kids still bring fresh new flower bouquets too. It's sad that, in general, kids need something like that to happen in order for them to straighten up, but drinking is no longer a "cool" thing to do at our school.

I was nearly killed by a drunk driver 20 years ago. It was late at night, he ran a red light and hit my little Chevette head on with his pick-up truck.

You do know that there are people out there that have seizures or other disabling ailments that can cause erratic driving, right? It's funny how you assume the person in the car was automatically drunk, even at 9 o'clock in the morning. I had a close call with a drunk driver once. I was going to a drinking party with this girl. We were both wasted but she opted to drive. She signaled to turn into the driveway when we got to the party before seeing 2 cop cars in the driveway. They saw our car signaling and pulled us over when we continued down the road without turning into the party house. I told the cop that we were going to her grandmother's house up the road and that it was my car and the blinker sometimes stuck and she didn't know that. I further asserted that we had no intention of going to the residence the officer's were at and didn't know who lived there. We got away with it! Ha ha! We were both totally freaking BLITZED, and we got away with it because of my quick thinking and convincing story telling. That was definately a CLOSE CALL WITH A DRUNK DRIVER.
