  • It is OK as long as you wait until AFTER you have completely finished eating. Othedrwise, they get the idea that they are moving up the pecking order of the pack/household. (which ccan cause problems)
  • My vet says it's a bad idea to feed pets human food. Not healthy for them and can cause weight gain. And I don't like pets begging while I'm eating.
  • It's not a good thing, in the sense that when a dog fills up on human food - table scraps - he may not want his own dog food, which is made to fill the nutritional requirements of canines. Human food won't do that. You get a healthier, happier, dog when your pup eats quality dog food 100% of the time.
  • it is bad thing!! lol, I learned a big lesson!!! I had to watch my mom's basset hound, she is pregnant so I need to montior her and be there if she have her babies, anyways, I was spoiling her with people's food after that she WOULD not touch her dog food and complains and begs for people's food. it went on a week, I had to feed her people food so she won't go straving with her puppies.
  • Well it's up to the individual if they want to. On saying that, it isn't a good thing. Your teaching your dog, begging is ok. And worse than that, your not doing it any good at all giving it human food. Heck most human food is bad for us, what will it do to a dog?? We don't let our dog into the dining room at all when we're eating, and she eats her own food after us.
  • It's a bad idea to actually feed them FROM the table or while you're eating, because they will bother you during meals and beg if you do. But if you wait until you're done, put it in their actual food bowls and mix it with they're normal food, they're usually fine.
  • It's looks cute until the dog sits and begs while you eat. Dogs also need a balanced diet. Table scraps can put on weight fast, and with no additional vitamins. My dog has been trained to never take any food from anyone except me. Reason of course, give him a steak and in my house you go, or he is poisoned. Which has happened before.
  • It is better after you finish eating. I don't like it when pets are trying to get to your food while you are trying to put it away.
  • What did dogs eat before they came out with commercial dog food? Scraps! Lets get real, if table food is good enoght for humans then I say it good enought for the pets.
  • If the food is good for the dog, I guess I would do it. I don't know much about dogs. I know people get pissed off or worried about it sometimes, but I am not sure about the reasons
  • its horrible to do, cooked food has little value to a dogs intestines its better to feed a raw meaty bone sometimes in other words just throw your dog a raw chicken quarter sometimes its good to clean the teeth and if its raw they wont choke just nothing cooked but table scraps are not good. My suggestion though just go with a good organic kibble such as Natures Variety, Dick Van Natural Balance, Wellness, or Eagle Pack Hollistics.
  • It can lead to overweight, and problems with the pancreas and liver.
  • Okay once in a while for a treat but they have to have hard food for their teeth, gums and it helps their breath as well. Nothing really expensive in dog food is needed just a good balanced formula. For the dog, the stronger the oder, the better they like it.
  • I have a yellow lab female who had been liveing only with me, she had a good weigh and I would feed her human food onece or twice a month (that includes meat and vegetables). When I moved back home my family fed her all of the table scraps dayly. She became so over weight that when she layed down sideways two of her paws couldnt touch the floor. I had to place her in a strict diet, but she hasnt been the same since. Just try to moderate the quantity of human food so she wont end up like my girl.
  • Feeding a dog from your plate encourages begging, disobedience, stealing (from your plate, from bins even from little children hands - which is extremely bad and scary for a 2 yr old) You also destroys the hierarchy is your house instead of the dog being a submissive ...it will believe it is on par in dominance with you. i found that if i take my dogs' bowl and my plate to the kitchen and i pretend to eat some of my food before placing it in his bowl....like a pack of dogs would do in the wild...'i'm your pack leader and you will eat what food i choose to give you' ...he sits patiently, doesn't whine or anything. Also think about what scraps your giving your dog...greasy fatty, high sugar foods are obviously a no no but a bit of stewed meat is greatly appreciated lol make sure you look up online what foods are okay for dogs and wot are not....print it off and pin it up were you eat or prepare food...that's what i'm gonna do in a bit.
  • as long as it is not too fatty or not good for them (i.e. grapes, chocolate, etc) we give ours table food. we always wait until we finish our dinner and mix it with her food in her bowl.
  • Just because your dog wants it, doesn't mean it's good. Please only feed your dog a high quality diet adn keep their treats within the same high quality limits. I.E., if you feed them a fish and potato diet (obviously not pedigree or purina, or ol roy) then give them treat that fits into the category - like tuna fish and/or sweet potato chunks. If your dog is on a diet like pedigree or ol roy, or some generic dog food, please consider changing food to something that is better for them. Please, for their sake consider doubling the money you spend on dog food (gas is cheaper, right?) - you will notice a HUGE difference! I promise.
  • If the food is raw meat or bones, then it's a good thing, it's a great thing! But don't feed dogs cooked meats or bones, sweet carb rich foods, or any grains and cereals. Dogs don't digest those things well. Instead feed a natural diet like BARF.
  • well dont feed it when your sitting at the dinnr=er table but it can have dinner scraps when its feeding time!!!
  • IT is a bad thing if fed daily,it will result in poor health conditions soon, because of many ingredients that we use which arent good for dogs... If fed occasionaly something non fatty and too spicy and too aromatic its ok..but it shouldnt be their main diet...
  • It's a pretty bad thing to fed your pets table scraps, not only are they bad for ur animal and can make them fat, your pet will never quit begging when it sees you eating. :)
