this is because colours like pink,blue,yellow or red fade as you get older also black is the cheapest and less painfull to get removed by laser surgery and green costs the most and hurts like hell !! another reason is people might not like colour tattoo's they might just prefer black or more poular green

The black ink fades just as much as the other colors, just not as quickly. Over time, it turns a greenish blue. I have a black "party dot" on my wrist bone that I did myself at age 15. Now, 20 years later, it's no longer black...

i have seen old people with these kind of tattoos and they seem to be either home made or prison tattoos. i asked a few old people and they have said they used indian ink. maybe long ago the ink wasnt very strong with black and it faded into a green colour.
