  • Runners cannot steal bases on a foul ball. If he is off the base he must return to that base before being thrown out.
  • if it is not strike 3 the ball is dead and the runner must return to the base he had already occupied.
  • If the catcher catches a thrown pitch, the ball is ALWAYS live and in play, even if the batter "tipped" it. Runners may attempt to advance on such a play. This is called a foul-tip strike rather then a foul ball.
