  • Top question Pete! My sentiments exactly! It breeds a culture of informants!
  • Why are you so paranoid over being modded? You will only get modded if you troll.
  • Yes, but there aren't any police. Nothing can really happen to you if someone gives you negaive points.
  • I don't like it, it creates stupid online drama. I don't know enough about Answerbag to formulate a proper answer and I apologize, but I don't think anyone can disagree on how much drama there is everywhere on the net, and that at the drop of a hat. If everyone could follow the rules and forget their ego for a second, it would be fine and we wouldn't need to rely on such things. It's not like these rules are so exigent, they're just common sense. But hey, rewards! Wouldn't give me much sense of worth to moderate someone or help get it done. Everyone has a right to say what they will. I certainly don't condone immaturity and flaming, and we shouldn't need citizen police or vigilantes to rule out something of such evident nature, unless you consider the size of this site and the many people on it. I'm here to learn, not to hear justifications and the sob stories that drove the actions. Got enough of that at work. :)
  • Snitches get stitches.
  • No - it's encouraging members to set standards for the forums that they use and encourage others to do the same. It aids in preventing spam in situations where the staff doesn't catch it right away and it gets rid of duplicates. In addition to this, the staff is very receptive to feedback from users - which is VERY unique, given the type of site this is. I think that the issue isn't getting "points for moderation" - the issue is that people are REALLY taking this points thing to a level it shouldn't be.
