  • Kristie's sister has been experiencing some dizziness that sounded like her typical episodes when her blood sugar drops. Then, in the last week or so, she had some brief vision loss and headaches. They had her come in for some blood work and tests in her local hospital, but called and said she needed to come up to St. Louis ASAP to Barnes-Jewish (one of the best hospitals around) for some more tests. It appears there is a small lesion or possible small tumor on the back of her brain (the area that affects vision). There is apparantly some bleeding. It looks like in the next couple days, she may have to have brain surgery. She is only 31 and has a toddler and an infant at home. Needless to say, we are all distressed...we've been at the hospital for several hours and just came home to get some rest. I would love if all my dear friends here would keep Karie and her family in their prayers for us. Thank you all!
  • redcatt 63, Karie and her family will be in my prayers tonight. I empathize with what you are going through now, as I have been through a few family health crises before in my life. They are always extremely difficult to handle. It's like a big heavy weight pulling you down, and you can't seem to push it off. You become obsessed by the distress. I know. Good luck and keep well.
  • Will do red...will start chanting for her today. I'm glad they found the problem so quickly.
  • I'd be happy to pray for them, bless you for asking.
  • UPDATE. Heard from Kristie's mom today. The doctor's say it doesn't appear to be as bad as they first thought. They will not be doing surgery at this time. They are keeping her in the hospital until probably Monday. They will be putting her on anti-seizure meds and keep her under observation. We'll be going to the hospital tomorrow, and hopefully get more details. Earlier today, we heard they said it was 3 leisions/tumors, not just one. I would think they'd have to do surgery at some point? I'll let you all know when we hear more details.
