  • As a martial arts instructor and Chinese herbologist, I fix a lot of bruises of many types, often ... ... try any of these ... http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/285374 .
  • Clean it and put a dressing on it and raise it up above your heart and the swelling and throbbing should do down.
  • My standard "OH Sh*T" fix is wrap it in gauze, use cloth tape (either the athletic or "surgical" tape to wrap it (not too tight). Basically isolate it so it doesn't move. Once it's taped up, gauze and lightly tape the toe next to it, then tape them together. Check with a Doctor as soon as possible. If you are going to be snowboarding, avoid pain killers. If you are able to work through the pain, do it. If not, just go to the Doctor, and if you take pain killers, cancel your trip.
  • soak it in hot salt water until the skin goes wrinkly then let it air
  • If it's blueish and swollen, you may have broken it. Nelson's advice ( http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/2433866 ) sounds VERY good to me. (I'd suggest NOT going anyway... You will probably exacerbate the pain and COULD do more damage.)
  • you probably jammed the toe during your injury. there's a small chance you even broke the toe but only a xray will show whether you did or not. for the nail area just keep it covered with neosporin + band-aid. i would keep the injured toe and the toes next to it all taped together for comfort. if it doesn't hurt too bad, it shouldn't be a problem to go snowboarding. good luck!
