  • I don't think there is a 'best age'. I moved out when I was 18 to go to college and I coped just fine. I knew how to cook and clean and take care of myself. A couple of my room mates, some a few years older than me, were totally clueless though. I had to teach them all kinds of basic stuff, like how to make a cup of tea and fry an egg (seriously!!) It all depends on how mature and responsible you are. If you are not sure, you can always get a short-term lease on a rental property and see how it goes.
  • As long as you can support your self and are mature enough to take on all the responsibilities that come with having your own place, it's fine. One of my children moved out at 18, the other 3 all waited another couple of years til they felt secure that it would work.
