This is a tricky one. I would recommend pushing in clutch and slowly letting it out while tying to shift out of the gear (with the engine idling). This will hurt the trani a bit but it might work. In my mind I'm pictuing this getting the gear spinning and hopefully freeing it up a bit.
I'm not familiar with a Subaru set up so I couldn't give you anymore ideas. If this works let me know eh?

You're reading My 1984 Subaru GL series 1800 cc motor with manual transmission 4 speed dual range 4WD is now stuck in 3rd gear. Why might this be?
