I agre with Dr James and would like to add that according to my understanding the reason for not accepting Christ as the Messiah is because there was an expectation on the part of the Jews that the Messiah was going to save them from their physical bondage to the Romans and when that didn't happen they decided that he could not possibly be the promised Messiah.

Isaiah 7:14 says "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name IMMANUEL" 1 Some people point out that Jesus was never named Immanuel 2 being born to a virgin would also dis qualify him. They point out that "VIRGIN" in the above verse has now been replaced in the RSV with the phrase "a young woman," which they'll tell you is the correct translation of the Hebrew word almah. Almah is the word which has occurred all along in the Hebrew text and NOT bethulah which means VIRGIN.

A lot of the "fulfillment" in Isaiah is taken out of context. If you read that entire paragraph, for example, you will see that the reigning king of Isaiah's time was worried about invasion from his neighbors. The Prophecy was an answer to that time, that Isaiah's wife (the young woman) would have a child, and before this child was old enough to say, "my mother, my father!" the threat of invasion would be nullified. And so it happened. Many years before Jesus. Deuteronomy 13 and its subsequent paragraphs contains G-d's order to us to deal strictly with false prophets. None can ever contradict the teachings that came from G-d through our greatest prophet, Moses. Jesus' prophecies, miracles, and instructions to worship him as "god-come-to-earth" contradicted G-d's instructions to H-s people. This would automatically condemn him according to the Holy Torah's words. Sorry that this answer is so long. So far as Salvation, it is available to everyone. Look up the Noahide Laws. There are only 7 Commandments for the Gentile World to observe. We have 613 to deal with!

they were looking for a PHYSICAL KING, such as David, to deliver them from bondage..that they put themselves into by God anyway...God always delivered them...they were punishments....they were hard hearted, unruly....they being a prideful people thought this deliverer would be for them only , not the WORLD....now how unjust would God of been if that would of happened... they did not and do not realize the bondage(laws) would of been over with JESUS....they would no longer have the heavy "bondage" Covenant and Laws that God put on a chosen people by MOSES LAW to keep them in line until the Messiah....HE came, they denied,as prophecied, that is why "JESUS WEPT" over Jerusalem, his own hometown.. Christ started in Genesis in womans seed and HE in every book of the OLD Testament , it is all about the DELIVERER of mankind....God's Plan from the Beginning(GENESIS) Jesus came to us through Jews, Judaism , now Judaism, Jews, will come back to the LORD through Christians, Gentiles.... they stopped with Moses, the Torah and Talmud..... God had a PLAN even before HE chose Israel...Israel and the Mosiac Laws were solely for the PURPOSE of, 1. to have a people to KEEP HIS NAME HOLY "until" the Saviour came for man kind.... 2. all the strict laws were to keep them in a rigid line until the SEED came... thus no more need for a chosen ,blood sacrifice, etc. it was open to all man with the Messiah.....
