Cold. I played with SCUBA as a 10 year old in Australia. Old Style, Twin Hose, Single Stage. At 16 I was in Ireland, Galway. I started diving again. Cold -No visibility. 2 Stage Single Hose. Fast Forward 15 years. Long Island NY. I started a Dive Squad with a buddy in the local Fire Department. The other people who wanted to join and had "experience" ie. resort certification (warm ) were so naive it was scary. I learnt the hard way. Rough water / strong currents / cold / zero visibility. You learn to adapt, stay alert and become a better diver IMHO.

I seem to remember that a few of the agencies include a statement to the effect of diving in conditions similar or better than those in which they were trained. LOL.
