Where can I find information about how a specific drug (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride / benadryl / Tylenol simply sleep) affects the brain? not things like it decreases mucous production, but more like how the actual brain and nerves are affected.

    I think it's easiest to understand why a drug works when you understand the actions of the receptor it targets. If it's an agonist, it'll have the same actions as the normal receptor response, while the antagonist blocks those actions (you probably already know that, but I like to be thorough). Diphenhydramine is a histamine receptor antagonist (antihistamine), so I searched wikipedia for the histamine receptor and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histamine_H1_receptor
