The most rare characteristic is for them to like the cold! Lizards hate the cold... Do you maybe mean 'unsual'? You've got chameleons who change colour and whose eyes move independently... that's pretty unusual! :)

I now know what answer you want so here it is: "They can fly". Actually, it isn't powered flight, more of a glide. And my original suggestion was going to be that some lizards have a third 'eye'. That's right, it's a tiny little light sensing organ on their foreheads that's completely covered in scales. Making it pretty useless. If you want to know anything about Leopard Geckos, Leo (see my avartar) will be happy to oblige ;)
