I think the line is where it is a matter of life and death. One should not die because of someone else's religious convictions. It might be something else with your own convictions, though. There are also some medical possibilities with ethical components, such as in vitro fertilization, for example. The question of medical necessity itself could sometimes be discussed.

Or for say a muslim to use a pigs heart valve etc.. there are many different things restricted by many different religions, at which point, is the value of something considered a "sin" worh less than the Value of their own life?

for me the line should be drawn when kids are involved ...if they are under say 18 then the medical considerations must and should out weigh any and all religious teachings , once they(the kids) are adults then let them make the call if they want to put their lives at risk for their religious beliefs ..its up to them
