Yes, all the time. My mother would either put my hair in two braids and part it down the middle....or pull it back into one. It was the style...with lots of pretty bows and ribbons!

I'm thinking like the old fashioned "pig tails"? Don't think I remember anyone wearing them, and I had "naturally curly" hair that wouldn't have been tamed by braids.
