I justed watched a man die on Enterprise, how should I feel?

Entertainment is supposed to allow us to experience things in a fictional setting that we probably would never encounter in real life. You should feel relieved that you don't have to see that kind of thing every day.

Well then, I apologize if I inserted my 2¢ where it was not appropriate. Given the tone of the previous 9 comments made in this thread, I felt an overwhelming need to do so. I also based my remarks on previous interactions I have either witnessed or personally had with you. In my opinion, the remark you made was indicative of the patronizing attitude towards those you somehow feel superior to. Such an apparent character trait does not endear you to others, me included.

Upon reading your analysis, I am absolutely fascinated. I had no idea that those were my motives. You are so insightful, how do you know me so much better than I even know myself? I would never have believed that I was so offensively condescending if you had not so kindly pointed it out to me. I always thought I was a sweet little old lady who likes to help people. Good morning. My "analysis" as you put it, was not a referendum on you as a person, just regarding the comments inserted within a conversation I was engaged in with Chris. I can recall another answer I posted where you obviously misinterpreted and commented. Although I, very politely, attempted to offer a clearer explanation, you chose not to reply. That's cool. I have stayed away so as to avoid further frustrations, which apparently, were solely on my part. Yes, I have personally seen some of the remarks you have made to others regarding simple misspellings or misusage of words.

THAT is where THIS comes from, "In my opinion, the remark you made was indicative of the patronizing attitude towards those you somehow feel superior to..." There are people here from all over the world and to berate them for such silly reasons IS patronizing. You comment to those who post answers somehow not “acceptable” to you, i.e.: “ ‘Do you XYZ? Why do you do so?’ ‘No, I do not XYZ because I do not like to.’ “ To then ask why are they even answering is, again, condescending.

I can appreciate that you cannot see what others do…as you stated; you are a nice little old lady whom, I would guess, is set in her ways. I truly can appreciate that it’s difficult to see the forest for the trees. I make concerted efforts daily to live by the golden rule and “live and let live”. I never, in a million years, normally would’ve mentioned this observation and certainly would not pass judgment on one based on only ONE remark.

It is a pattern that I have witnessed and although others have backed off, I suppose you caught me at the wrong time because I will not be talked down to and with the remark you inserted, that’s where I chose to take my stand. Perhaps it was not appropriate and for that, I do apologize. Although I will not accept that my observations are somehow wrong because they are just that, MY observations.

OK, so you have come up with an explanation. This thread started out as a conversation between Chris and I, and you inserted yourself into it,, not the other way around. A few days ago, I went back to an old question that Chris and I had been bandying around, and placed a joke on it. He took it that way, and we have often had such exchanges. What I can't understand is why you decided to say such a horrible thing about me, out of a clear blue sky, since I don't recall having any problems with you in the past. "you somehow feel superior" is certainly a personal attack. To come back now and claim that it is based on some unspecified prior observations is a very weak justification. In the future, if you see a mistake in spelling in my work, that is the time to point it out. You really hurt my feelings! You apologize for telling off in the wrong place, but that just doesn't sound very sincere.

I wasn't even talking to you, so the whole thing is absurd.

Wow, I am speechless. I have had great and fun conversations with both of you, and we all happened to cross paths on this one... I really think this just got blown out of proportion. A bartender once told me, be careful not to mix your jokes up, they will surely not be laughed at, as is the case here. I really feel responsible here, as I read this. I will say, I appreciate both of you.
And I think that the two of you should be able to settle this, without anyone getting hurt or offended. As far as talking about anyone behind their back, Im gonna save that for the sockpuppets and trolls. The real problem on this site.

Chris, thanks. I'm done with this. I cried myself to sleep last night, but I have answered thousands of questions and my approval rating is 97% here. I have received awards and prizes on other site for my excellent contributions. I can count the number of complaints I have received on both hands and have some fingers left over. I will try not to let one person ruin my fun.

If it helps, even if you disagree with each other, it is nice to see a heated discussion, where every other word isnt f(&* and S*^&
or a completely derogatory barrage of insults where we could all end up in the penalty box. That shows a certain amount of maturity, and common respect, and I am sure that will help to settle this, maturity, and respect.

Also, to add, I am sorry you cried yourself to sleep last night.
I have met many good friends this way myself, and there are maybe 4 or 5 people on this site I cant say that about. I have had some real ugly conversations here, and I have made a point to eventually become friends with those who seemed to dislike me the most. It was a good feeling. I could name names, but , I wont. They know who they are, with their despicable low %'s, and their offensive comments. And their closed mindedness.
I really cant use those words to describe either of you personally, so I am sure this will work out just fine for both of you, I sure hope it does.
