Let me suggest that nobody makes mistakes. Look at it this way. First, every time you make a decision you base it on all the information you are willing to consider at the time you make the decision. And, you make what you honestly believe is the best decision at the time. It is only later, when new information comes to you that you decide your earlier decision should have been different. Now, is it fair to say your earlier decision was "wrong"? I don't think so. You never got out of bed in the morning and said to yourself, "today I'm going to make the dumnbest decisions I can possibly make." On the contrary, when you (or anybody) make a decision, you honestly believbe the decision will be to your benefit. So what do we call it when after-acquired information suggests your earlier decision should have been different? Not a mistake. Perhaps we should simply say that later information suggested a different earlier decision would have served us better.
