Oddly enough, very little. When you stop eating, your body slows the metabolism down, then when you do eat, the metabolism is still slow and you put on weight quickly. Your best way to loose weight is to eat less but healthy foods low in calories three times a day and exercise... When you feel hungry between meals, exercise makes that hunger go away, and uses the excess body fats to accomodate the energy and speeds up the metabolism.

This is not the way to lose weight. it takes a controlled diet, coupled with a daily exercise routine. do not try the above, without a complete physical and ok from your doctor.

May be you can give a try to the following program http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/~jaju/health/GeneralMotorsDiet.html If you don't prefer rice, then replace it with small amount of beef. There are tons of programs floating around the internet to reduce weight but I doubt how many really work. What other members say is also true that you have to be consistent with physical acitivity and diet plan but I finished the above course yesterday and I lost 3 kg. You do feel bit tired during this week but you have to offer a chance to your body to use fats for the purpose of energy. Now I will start very regular physical activity and strict diet plan to reduce a bit more (and my beer belly) Make sure to drink at least 4 liters of water during this week and don't do this more than once a month.

Assuming that: your daily caloric needs are about 2000 calories and they stayed that way (i.e. your metabolism didn't slow down, you kept up your normal amount of activity)... You would loose approximately 4 pounds ([2000*7=14000] / 3500 = 4, since 3500 is the number of calories to loose a pound of fat). This is a very unhealthy way to loose weight, and as you can see, really doesn't help that much. With a healthy diet and exercise program you can loose about 1-2 pounds a week. While that seems like less, it will be easier to maintain. Starvation diets will just make you gain more weight in the long run.

I agree when you don't eat, your metabolism slows down, however, its not quite that simple (or else anorexics would be unable to get as thin as they do). However, I can say that one time I got really ill and couldn't eat for a week - I just had no appetite at all. I lost about 8 pounds. It was great! But, I gained it back pretty quickly, as soon as I started eating normal again.

For a week? You would probably lose anywhere between 5-10 lbs, to be honest. A lot of it would be water weight, though, most likely. Anything beyond a week, your metabolism WOULD slow down. It takes a while for that to happen, though. I've done a few full-week fasts, and I always lost about 6 or 7 lbs, on average. It's very unsafe, btw, and I wouldn't recommend it.

It is fine to starve for several days or a week at most. Anyone with basic knowledge of body biochemistry will instantly know that the body never uses amino acids as a source of energy unless there are no fatty acids (fats). Thus your body will never start to degrade your muscles and you will not have heart problems, liver problems etc etc when starving. You just lose weight when you starve thats all. BUT don't starve for an unreasonably wrong time. Ketone bodies can only be manufactured from fats. Since your brain needs glucose or can use an alternative fuel known as ketone bodies your body will need to make ketone bodies when there is no glucose from your diet. As a result your body will have to mobilize your fat stores and this will lead to a great decrease in your weight if you starve.

Alot slower then if you ate 3 healthy meals each day.
