  • The driver collects the winnings at the end of each race. Manufacturers get points when their cars do well. At the end of the day, the only guy really getting paid is the car driver, at least from NASCAR. Most likely each driver has a bonus from the owner. The owners get rewarded by sponsors who pay them more for the tv time. Good drivers want to be on teams that win, so a good team gets better drivers. Basically, a team that does well, helps the owner get more money from sponsors. A driver that does well gets the winnings (hopefully shared with his crew) as well as getting other sponsor money. Each contract is different, but the better you do the more money you get, for both the driver, team, and owner. I think the daytona 500 paid something like over 1mill to the winner. It trails off from there, and most races dont pay that much. If you go to espn or another site, and go to the nascar section, they will have a run down on exact winnings to date for most drivers. At the end of the year, good drivers will have pulled about 3 mill from race finishes.
