The Coke and Microsoft "forward this e-mail to all of your friends because Coke, or Microsoft, are TRACKING IT and you will be sent a check for x amount of money" legend. After many years, this bugger is still making the rounds...because people are hoping they'll get a check! The ones that piss me off the most are betting on the better nature of most people and concern a LOST CHILD or a SICK CHILD. With the lost child scams, they are asking you to forward the email, so that perhaps SOMEONE out there will see the photo and make a call helping to locate their child. With the sick child, your supposed forwarding will generate a cash donation (though non-existent tracking) that will help pay for their child's life or death surgery or research to save the child's life. I really hate both of these computer urban legends. In Real Time...we have the harmless SNIPE hunting...by a the light of a full moon, Bloody Mary...not always so harmless, Big Foot...a nice enough guy from what I hear....and the famous Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe..which made the Computer email crossover.
