If I understand correctly, your engine is running a little hotter than normal. To see your temp gauge rise and fall is normal, the gauge drops when your thermostat opens. It rises when the thermostat closes. Check your radiator. Is the coolant level at the top? If not, fill er up and the resevoir bottle. What color is the coolant? If it is a clear lime green color, you are probably ok. If it is dirty and brown, you need to flush the cooling system and add new coolant. The fan clutch may need replacing if all checks out. I would suggest a flush and thermostat change just for maintenance reasons and piece of mind. Chances are this will remedy your concerns. If not, you have either a restriction in the cooling system (clogged radiator) a weak or leaking waterpump, or a faulty fan clutch.
