  • Im guessing you are sorta referring to the church's reaction to Da Vinci code? because the plethora of lies, and manipulation of the church would be exposed. That's the MAIN reason they were all up in arms over that book, and movie(but it's fiction also.)
  • 1. The Church has always emphasized J's divine nature over his human nature. If he married, had a family, etc., like ordinary men, then he seems more human than divine. The more human, the more easily undertsood, and the less ordinary worshippers need to rely upon the Church's authority on mysterious matters. 2. The Church's justification of celibacy would be undermined. 3. The Church's insistence on apostolic succession for its authority would have major competitors if J had descendants.
  • Well, there's a pretty big difference between a bachelor who never touched a woman and a married man. A lot of churches emphasize Jesus' purity.
  • I think they'd feel foolish talking about their savior's girlfriend. A story about saving a fallen woman from damnation while remaining chaste and desireless would fit their purposes more than telling people Jesus did well with the ladies. And then maybe they'd have to apologize for writing her into the bible as a whore, instead of his wife or girlfriend or best girl bud that he just liked to hang with. A little strange to me, considering catholics seem to like admitting wrongs. Guess it only goes for the flock, not the shepards.
