They dont know how the word or letters sounds. Lets say you are learning a new language, you hear how the word is pronounced, so that you say it correctly. Example: Comment allez-vous ? Can you say that properly with out being able to hear it.

Well, imagine learning how to type on a normal keyboard if you're blind....it wouldn't be very easy. The same thing goes for an inability to hear causing an inability to speak correctly.

People that are born deaf, never hear other peoples' voices. So they cannot copy, from other people, 'exactly' how words sound, or how speech sounds. They can attempt to copy peoples' mouth movements, to try to talk like 'hearing' people, but it doesn't sound the same, because they can't hear their *own* voice.

It doesn't affect your speech if you are deaf, I am deaf, i took many years of speech therpay, some can be clear some can't, I can hear myself talking if i wear my hearing aids. it takes alot of practice. it is like learning baby steps, you know, how to walk. same as learn how to talk.

A part is hearing oneself but also we learn prononciation by lisetening to the way words are spoken by another. Hope this helps!
