  • A study is a scientific evaluation of what is observable. I believe that God answers prayer, and is not directly observable by science, and thus the studies can't prove it effective or not. Just my take on it.
  • I suggest you watch the documentary called "What the bleep to we know?"
  • But why do the coincidences stop happening when I stop praying?
  • I believe that the comfort one recieves from an (what I like to call) 'imaginary friend' is what 'answers' their prayers. They ask, they fulful required steps to recieve, they recieve. Fate is not guided by any God, it is guided by your own will to gain what you want most. Which is why God probably won't save the Grandmother you have who is on her death bed - it is out of your control.
  • It says in the Bible that we are not to "test" God. If a bunch of UNSAVED scientists want to prove the effectiveness of prayer, and say a bunch of meaninless prayers, with NO faith whatsoever.... why WOULD God want to prove it works? That makes no sense. Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." The scientists were not Christians probably, and they were doing the experiment as a scientific study. It had nothing to do with faith at all.
  • So the rules say "If you try and prove it that is wrong, so it will fail" which justifies the inability to prove it. This is then used as a proof that god exists. I have no idea whether this is irony or morony
  • God is not oblidged to cooperate in the "studies" of mankind.
  • Scientific study shows prayer works as a cure! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/778564.stm Spirituality Improves Your Health! http://www.recoveryemporium.com/Articles/Spirituality%20and%20Health.htm Does Prayer Work? http://www.findingbalance.tv/videoserver/video.php?clip=FBA1189 So what are we to believe? Not included in this set of sites is a study that was done by a secular scientist on the effect of prayer on the smallest observable particles. The tests came back inconclusive, but the scientist talked about how he was really shocked at the differences between how this matter acted in the presence of a praying person as opposed to one who was not praying. At the very least I believe that this debate is currently a stalemate. As stalemates often do, it comes down to personal experience. However, I will say this. I believe one of the many problems with the side arguing against prayer, is that they assume that prayers would always be answered in the positive. I could pray for someone to physically recover from an illness, and God's answer could be to have them go to a better place spiritually before they die.
  • Let's face it: the study has no value in giving a hint to god's existence. It does however seem to show that if there is a god, he doesn't listen particularly well to prayers. And one thing I'm sure of: if the result had been the other way around, all those believers here that are happily stating that god is not to be tested, would declare loudly that god exists, and it's been even proven now.
