  • What exactly do you mean by an English tea breakfast? I've never heard of one of those and I'm English! Assuming you mean a full English breakfast, this usually consists of- Bacon (back bacon, grilled or fried) Sausages Eggs (fried and scrambled) Tomato (fried or grilled) Mushrooms Fried bread and toast Some people also have baked beans, although my Canadian husband complains that they are 'disgusting' lol. A lot of people have black pudding too but this may be difficult to get outside of the UK (and it really is disgusting!)
  • I just wanted to back up nitantro's answer really. I too, am English, and I've never heard of an English tea breakfast either! A traditional "Full English Breakfast" such as you might find served in a hotel here would be pretty much as she described- there would be some variations in accompaniment and cooking style (fried is more traditional, but grilled is more common nowadays) but it would usually at least include bacon and egg. It is usually served with tea or coffee, so maybe this is what you mean. The thing is, that most English families wouldn't eat a "english Breakfast" on a regular basis. Mostly an English person would breakfast on toast, crumpets or muffins (muffins here are different to in the US- more like a hot cross bun without the fruit or sugar http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/englishmuffin.jpg), cereal or perhaps porridge washed down with tea, coffee or fruit juice. I hope we've helped between us somehow, although I'm still not sure what you mean!
  • Yeah, LF and nitranitro are right. I'd just like to add that boiled eggs and 'soldiers' (toast cut into strips) are also a popular breakfast. Although most of us just grab a bowl of cereal, if we eat anything at all. Maybe an English TEA breakfast would just be the typical eggs, bacon, sausage (as described by nitanitro) with a cup of tea as well.
  • No such thing
  • Strong arms..
