  • 15w-20 is the viscocity index SAE of the oil according to API (American Petrolium Institute). It doesn't have anything to do with Synthetic or not. At the cans shall be indicate clearly if the oil are synthetic or not. If there are no synthetic oil mark than it's not synthetic. 15w-20 mean when the oil is cool it will have viscocity index at 20 and when you run the car and oil start to thin at viscosity index at 15. Lower the SAE grade the oil will be thinner and higher SAE the oil will be thicker.
