Why do you suppose the religions category is so popular when compared to the other social sciences categories?

I would guess that most AB members are in the U.S. Americans are far more obsessed with religion (both personally and as a social issue) than Canadians, Britons, or other English speakers on AnswerBag. The Christian evangelical movement is centered in the U.S. -- it can't get much traction anywhere else. This is nothing new. 19C writer Alexis deTocqueville observed that, "Religious insanity is very common in the United States." I should add that I myself am American.

I think it's because most everyone has one. Even atheists must believe that there isn't a God, and agnostics are even more likely to engage as they are searching. Just my take.
