  • If that it true, it is only because you will have to replace the engine before your little experiment is complete. This is a really bad idea.
  • ya i agree with Tussen you dont wanna do that
  • Yes & No! ATF is very High Detergent & will clean the block & parts, but how dirty is it??? Along time ago, the old "Big Block Cads, Olds etc. would "Carbon Up". Factory said to pull the heads & clean them up. I took ATF & ran it in the manifold until it choked the engine to a stop & let it set there for a day. This softened up the carbon deposits so that the next day I could start the Engine & when warm, I'd pour Short Grained Rice in the Carb holding the throttle open wide!!! This was like "Sand Blasting Everything" in the Cylinders & left a Big Pile of Carbon & Rice Powder at the end of the tailpipe. It put "New Life" into those Engines & a lot cheaper than a "Conventional Valve Job" & quicker too!!! Today if I were U I would just change to Synthetic Oil & it will do the same thing even polish the moving parts. John
  • Don't do that. They do make engine flushes. You generally run the engine about 5 minutes on it. But really unnecessary. On oil changes, try disconnecting your primaty ifnition lead and crank the engine (never start) and clear the old oil from the galleries. But nothing short of rebuilding is going to make an engine like new. Use good oil, best syntetic or a synthetic blend.
  • no. 500 miles would be really really bad for the engine. i remember reading in hot rod back in the 80's and they said to use atf the same as you would any engine flush product. basically, pour the flush(atf) in, run it 5 minutes, drain oil and atf and change filter and add new oil.
