I'm not an old GI, but I am an old Boy Scout, and we used a lot of the same terminology. Bug Juice is a generic term for any powdered soft drink (Kool-Aid, Wylers, etc.). In times past (especially in Vietnam, where the term was coined), such beverages were served in an open container. Such liquid invarably attracts small insects (usually gnats) which tend to drown in it.

Admiral beat me to the answer... however, I'm not an "old" Boy Scout: you'd be happy to know the moniker is still alive and well among scouts everywhere as tasty kool-aid.
