What are you thoughts about people who get on reality TV or talk shows (Dr. Phil, Oprah, Ellen, etc) and air extremely personal issues about themselves, their relationships or their children?

In a sense they are heroes, because they start a discussion of something that society has to confront at some point but has delayed confronting it.

I think they're idiots for the most part. But I don't think Ellen really fits in the category. She doesn't have people on complaining about their partner or how badly behaved their kids are. Occasionally she'll have someone on who was in the news for overcoming something tragic, but that's really not the same as "help me find my baby's daddy" or "send my kids to boot camp". She also has a lot of very talented "regular" people and kids on. I love Ellen's show and watch it daily.

I think they're either getting paid a lot of money or just plain STUPID!!

I don't think they ever air anything so personal it has the potential for causing them harm do they?

They're basically bloggers who don't care that everyone knows who they are. Oh, and they get to live lavish lifestyles and flaunt their wealth in the face of the lower class. :)
