Check your fuses. If they are ok. then either your braking system has a problem that is coinidental at that time, or the switch for the brakes (located under the brake pedal) was damaged.

on the brake pedal, there is a plastic disc about 1.5 cm in diameter... this broke. If you get on the floor of your car and look up at the brake pedal, when the brake pedal is in its relaxed position (not being pushed), then it applies pressure to a little button that turns off the brake lights. Unfortunately, the brake pedal doesn't go far enough, and therefore needs a small plastic disc to give it that extra .75 cm push to apply the force to the button to turn it off. So, to fix it, find some duct tape and add something there to do the job of that plastic button. Then thats it. No fuse, no nothing... simple replacement. If you take it to the dealer, they'll probably charge you $75 dollars. Hope that my answer words for you.
