Many many meals. Everyone always wanted to come to my house for dinner because we ate so different. I grew up in a Belgian family that ate like they still lived there. My mom didn't know any different way to cook or eat. Let's just say that to me, American things were weird or intriguing because we never ate that way. I was probably 10 before I had peanut butter. We never had casseroles unless they were like a French one like cassoulet. No regular jello salads, we had things in aspic. Lots of fish and mussels, hearthy soups, croque monsieur sandwiches, stuffed tomatoes with shrimp, waffles with yeast and sugar cubes, etc.

Tacos and Chili. Very few people ate them in the area I grew up in.
