you bet I do...80% of the sticker price and I can trade them in on other books and get even better value for the money
-
No, I get most of my books from friends, relatives, and Freecycle http://www.freecycle.org/
-
all the time....there's a really great local used book shop that I've patronized since I was in high school.... even when I lived elsewhere, when I would come home and visit my parents i always made sure to drop in and visit Edith and trade in some books
-
Yes... I have.
-
Absolutely, theres a used book store about 3 blocks from my home, great place to get books at more that half off. I picked up 6 Anne Rice novels for $9 the other day, all good condition.
-
Of course. Books aren't disposable.
-
Nope, I either buy them new which is very seldom because I've accumulated so many books. I now usually check them out at the library.
-
Yes I do. A used book reads the same as a new one only much cheaper.
-
I only buy used books when the book that I want to read is out of print.
-
I like to buy really old books, so they tend to be quite used.
-
I'm trying to collect the entire series of The Animorphs, but they're out of print, so I have no choice. Also, whenever I can, I buy my uni books second-hand, because they are seriously expensive. Most books I buy for reading by choice, though, I buy new, or I borrow from the library.
-
Yea, they smell better at half the cost.
-
When I was single I did. Had more time then to visit various used book stores to search for something interesting to read. Now, with a family that demands much of my attention AND...eh...the internet, I don't even READ as much as I used to.
-
I dont really buy books.......at all.
-
Yes I do. I find great value in buying used books either at library fund raisers, at used book shops or on E-bay. I end up paying less for a clean hard bound book than I would for a new paperback.
-
Yes,I do.
-
Absolutely, I read too much to buy brand new ones. Only with probable 'keepers' do I buy new, classics and a few favorite authors.
-
That's what I usually buy. I go looking for the new ones at Amazon, check the used price and see if it's even cheaper maybe on eBay. Then I buy what's cheapest at he best condition I need. This even works for brand new books. Why pay more?
-
yup...as opposed to used cds or dvds...with a book you can immediatley know if its damaged goods.
-
amazon.com baby! fo' show
-
Oh yes, I collect books, and most of the books I buy are used.
-
Sure, as long as it looks good, I'll buy it.
-
ya
-
Yes!! I find the older editions have much nicer covers and the prices that Waterstones and W.H.Smiths charge are ridiculous!!
-
Yes, all the time! Specially my textbooks!
-
No, i never buy used books, but if one of my sisters have been reading a book they thing is good, we give a lend of books to each other.. :)
-
All the time. A lot of great books are out of print and of course antique and collectible books are used.
-
Actually, I buy both used and new....and antique.
-
yess, they're cheaper
-
yes i do..
-
I'll get "review copies". These are books that the publisher sends to reviewers (magazines, newspapers). Most of these reviewers don't keep them but sell them to certain book stores that specialize in them and then sell them to the public for considerably off the list price.
-
Yes, at yard sales and the like yo...
-
Almost always.
-
yes. At garage sales and sales that the libraries have once in a while. When I lived in Illinois, there was a resale shop that got really good book in and they were 1/2 price on Saturday. I'd rather pay $3 than $29.95.
-
No, only new ones. Not that I'm against used ones...
-
Sure...I've found quite a few great books browsing through used book store shelves. Saved a lot of money too. Unfortunately, I don't have the time (or the inclination) to visit used book stores the way I did prior to getting married. Much easier to shop online or pay a quick visit to the local Barnes & Noble.
-
There is nothing wrong in buying used books. I usually buy from book sales or online. After all, it's cheaper.
-
have you seen the price of a new text book for college usually over a 100 dollars and the use @ 80 dollars. Yes i buy used.
-
If I like it, yeah. :-)
-
Of course! I love Half Price Books.
-
Yes
-
I do, yes. Ebay and I have a very special relationship.
-
Yes - infact I do it quite often.
-
not too often only because i dont get a chance too often. i ususally go to the bookstore at the mall and buy news ones, most of which i never read.
-
yes i do. if i come across some nice ones. some of these second hand books are still in great shape and cost half the price of new ones
-
Very rarely!
-
Just when I was in school. Those text books are expensive.
-
Sometimes off ebay if its what I really want to read . Its a bargain and I can pass it on or use it for reference.
-
I have once, they are cheap and usually in good condition. Plus a used book just looks and feels better, it seems like it has been passed down in history. Makes it more enjoyable to have.
-
yup. i love going into old second hand book stores :)
-
sorry not.5
-
When I can. Secondhand Bookshops are few and far between but I do love to look round them, it is the anticipation of not knowing what you might find.
-
always, about 90% of my books are from a used book shop, however, sometimes there are books that I can never find, so I buy them brand new, especially phillip k dick books, love them.
-
Absolutely. Local libraries get rid of their old stuff for around 20-50cents (NZ), and i enjoy hunting them down on TradeMe - that's our equivalent to E-bay. Gotta love 2nd hand bookshops too!
-
YES ! love the books there is nothing like books in the whole world and i buy used bo0ks a lot as they are cheap also :)
-
of course! they're so much cheaper!
-
Heck yeah! I go to college and it's a lot cheaper than buying a brand new book.
-
Yes some books-such as many of the pb mysteries from the 50s have never been reprinted. It just seems so exciting to find a good author that's forgotten & unappreciated so I can rave about it. Sometimes it's a true adventure!
-
Yes, new books are expensive these days and used books are so much more affordable. +3
-
Yes I had bought some of mine used, when they open the book fair two blocks away from home It is great you can get more books for less money spent
-
of course that is what over half of my "little library" as my frinds call it is made up of it is much much much cheaper
-
Yes pretty much only used books
-
Absolutely! Words don't loose their value when the pages are dog earred!
-
If all the pages are there than it makes no difference.
-
Yes, I do.
-
I buy used books all the time. I'm more interested in the content, than the appearance or condition of the book.
-
Yes,I also have hand-me-down words too.;)
-
Yes, I would, don't have a problem with it as long as it's in fine condition. Buying used can be a good deal!
