What does "EMO" stand for?

It depends... Originally it was shorthand for 'Emotive Hardcore' music, but nowadays it really just means 'Emotional', though some use it to refer to a specific fashion / subculture that sort of blends aspects of punk, goth, and a bit of it's own stuff.

Although, the fact that you capitalized "EMO" makes me think of the European Committee for the Co-operation among Machine Tool Industries (EMO) Event that went on a few weeks ago (it was in recent world news).

Or I guess it could also mean something along the lines of "Emergency Management OFfice". What is the exact context that you are referring to "EMO".

Emo is short for emotional. They're not just kids who "cut themselves" They're are tons of emos who don't and tons of normal people that do. I don't understand the generalisation with that. People who cut themselves are just as misunderstood as emos themselves. Trust me i've been there and although i know it's wrong and i dont agree with it, it's pathetic that people think it's funny to laugh at people who do it, when you have no idea what they might be going through or whats happening to them behind doors. Not saying you have to understand why they do it, but just be a little empathetic. Christ. And as for Emos. They're just kids trying to find they're place and are the sensitive ones of the world who dont quite know how to deal with it yet. They all dress the same, because they want to feel like there are others out there who know how they feel and although they dont want to blend in with the typical people because they more unique than that they do want to know that there are other people who are like them to share things with.

I personally think they're incredibly cool and special and support them all the way. I think it's the chavs you should be dissing tbh.

truly emo (kids) are exactly as beatrice_n described them, not as those posers who say the stereotypical bullshit described them, I studied about them and their culture because I used to be an emo wannabe until I realized how stupid I was I also have truly emo friends do not listen to poser noobs who say all emos cut, they dont, that's just something alot of people do that society has decided to place on the emo subculture.
