if it is sprained/bruised/broken or anything like that, then yes, it does make sense. if this only happens in your ring finger, solution: take off your ring. if your ring is tight, the blood flow is pulsing in that finger alone, trapped because of your ring. take it off, massage your finger a little, and maybe put some ice on it. then think about resizing your ring.
I haven't heard of just a wound causing heat however, infection in the wound does cause a localized fever and should be taken care of immediately to prevent the spreading of infection. Even a hangnail can cause heat if it is infected.
