  • Somehow I don't think that the majority of the population who can afford cars will ever be able to afford *that* type of fast car to overpopulate the roadways... and of that small percentage that *can* afford those cars, I think an even smaller percentage will drive like idiots on the expressway, opting to take their car to the track. So, yes, I'd like cars like this on the roadway so I can drool over them and dream ;)
  • Honestly, yes. See, those cars have two other things that most non-car people discount; handling and brakes. If a small child jumps out in front of you at a normal neighborhood speed (25-30MPH), then the brakes on a Saleen will stop the car quick enough to bruise your ribs with the seat belt. If something comes up that would send a normal car understeering off into the weeds or unable to avoid, the Saleen will grip and go right where you want it to. The REAL problem is that we have inept drivers. We treat driving as a right and not a privilege. Note that Europe and Japan have higher performance cars than they dare even import to the US, drive faster, and yet have lower traffic fatalities? Ever wonder why?

Note that Europe and Japan have higher performance cars than they dare even import to the US, drive faster, and yet have lower traffic fatalities? Ever wonder why?" Roads. In the USA we have very straight non-bending highways that cause something called HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS where drivers become fatigued from driving and not providing much input to their vehicles. Europe and Japan, they have very windy twisty roads that are built around the landscape and geography that forces drivers to stay very alert to stay on the road. Thus making the driver more aware of the vehicles around him. This also explains why for the longest time American cars has such floaty rides with engines that cranked out high torque at low RPM and why Japanese and Euro-breed cars had firmer suspensions with higher revving engines. It's why you see two versions of the same foreign brand car. One thats tune for the roads of the homeland and one thats better fitted for cruising the USA. Also it should be noted that up on to the 1970's American roads were not fully developed and many place had very crude roads that were not very smooth, that's the other rational for the floaty-boat suspensions.
  • No. Kind of a waste on US roadways. Sounds like for for the Autobahn. Who could afford one?
  • Why not? The only problem is if they actually drive it like that.
  • There would never be enough of them to be a problem as they are not for your average citizen to own.
  • you are so right most people operate an auto instead of driving them, we should build an autobon across the country for the fast cars and make it like lemans
  • With super cars with this kind of performance you cannot drive flat out as some people do in normal cars. Drivers of this kind of car have no option but to drive with respect or end up in the undergrowth, things can get out of hand more quickly than you can imagine. However, in a recent track test, a supercar (Mercedes SLR)stopped from 120 miles per hour in less distance than the Highway Code estimates for 60 MPH. Therefore, if you drive a supercar sensibly you are safer than in a standard road car. In my opinion, if you have never driven a car like this, treat yourself. p.s. The saleen is a great car but too expensive - buy a TVR!
  • Of course, anything to help you pay attention to your driving. Personally i would give everybody a dragster if i could, but the hippies are getting all anal.
  • Of course man... Makes driving that much funner, specially if your in that beast of a car.
  • As long as they don't hold me up.
  • nothing wrong with having the cars on the roads it's the idiots behind the wheel I am worried about
  • It's no worse than some suburban dweeb who needs to prove his macho by driving a huge SUV aggressively, cutting people off, tailgating, and otherwise "throwing his weight around".
  • Interstate traffic would not allow a vehicle to go this fast, without killing the driver and innocent other drivers. I believe the idea behind this machine, is a macho thing for men and women. Its not using the horsepower, but the ability to brag about it to other people.
  • yeah i want cars like this on the road. just cause a car can go 248 doesnt mean people will. i guarantee you the majority of the people who can afford these things are gonna be damn sure they take good care of them.
  • Absolutely!
