I am a Christian, so I am a deist, but also a theist, and a Child of God.

No, maesterchief, you can't be a deist and a Christian too. They are incompatible beliefs. i am a Deist! (One who believes in the existence of a God, but denies revealed religion; a freethinker.) de·ism (de'iz'?m, da'-) n. The belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation. From my chosen path i stray, Yet my God ne'er turns away; For i have learned -- and understand, That where God is -- is where i am!

It depends your meaning for deist- as has been pointed out, there can be some confusion. If you mean the general belief that there is a God- absolutely. I am a Christian, so I get far more specific in that, but as an antithetical to the word atheist, yes, it fits me. If you mean the technical word meaning, as I come to understand it, one that believes God "wound up the clock" that is the universe, stepped back, and has not interfered since and doesn't really care what happens- than absolutely not! I is not a deist but that termage!
