Depends on how well built you are. Most any guy can get away with wearing bikini's, some that shouldn't. As far as socially acceptable, just don't go crazy if you are at a family beach. If you look good wear whatever you are comfortable in. Rule of thumb, butt cheeks are great if they are tanned, but cover up the front completely no matter what beach you are at.

Sexy to women or men? I don't care HOW a guy is built, if he shows up in public in a g-string with a pocket he's going to repel any woman with any class whatsoever. I can't answer for gay men, though.

Box cut trunks. Not tight like speedos, but shorter than regular trunks to show off muscular thighs. Long board shorts with busy designs have been a staple for the past couple years, but guys with slimmer or athletic bodies are showing of a little more.

Just regular swim shorts. Speedos/thongs really are not attractive on ANY man. Men aren't supposed to dress skimy, and don't have to, to be sexy.

I think it depends on the beach and what your confidence level is. If you are comfortable with your physique and you are at a fashion forward beach, go for the thong if you wish. Myself, I prefer a thong whenever permitted (especially south Florida). They are actually quite comfortable and are preferable to those dork short tanlines.

If you really built, you don't have to make your beach dress extreme. Leave something to the imagination. The ladies really don't want the whole package open for all to see. Besides, if you have an excellent body, you don't need an incredibly crazy swim outfit to make your point.
