My car has a standard exhaust system... whould it make my car louder if i just put a muffler on it?

that depends on the muffler you can choose from something like a flowmaster 40 (very loud) to a quiet flow 3 less noise than stock . you can always go with factory replacement part and it will be as it was before if you have to replace look into a "high flow" muffler this will give you some more mpg and hp granted its a small increase 3-8 mpg and 10-15 hp but the mufflers are usualy about the same cost as stock or less for some. overall if you choose to go "high flow" they will usualy state the type of sound they make for example some say that 50's sound (loud growl) or there are quiet ones like the quiet flow series thats all up to you
