My wife is the queen lemon-lover on the planet. And, her trusty companion is a shaker of salt. Every time we eat at a restaurant, one of her side orders is a stack of cut lemons. I am amazed her teeth are still in excellent shape, because of the acid in the lemons. "All hail to the lemon-lover......my wife"!

Almost all sweet foods are enhanced with salt. When baking sweet things, salt is added. The reason is a touch of salt brings the sweetness out, not TOO much - but just a touch compared to the volume of the item you are baking or about to eat.

I eat it with or without salt. Fruit is tasty both ways.
