How do you deal with a user (fairly high level; 50+) that publicly states that they will downrate you ON SIGHT? Twice? And includes a friend of yours the second time?

I would ignore it. Really, who cares about such childish antics? People get so worked up over this downrating stuff, and it really does not matter.

Screw them. . Who ever thinks they're superior than you just because they're a higher level in AB is a nut. Can't do much about it besides insulting them if you want or ignoring it.

If you can't handle it between the two of you and if you have it documented on the pages of AB, I'd contact the staff.

I laugh at them, because they are acting childish and immature. It doesnt matter what their level is, that doesnt make them smarter, it just means they have spent more time on here answering questions.

Wow...I'm really sorry about this. I think the best way to deal with it without getting into too much trouble is contacting the AB staff. It's much easier not to take matters into your own hands. You normally end up even more tangled up than you started. It's quite a pity that at such a high level they don't have the decency to respect you more.

*sigh* Yeah, that's tough. If he does act out on his threat then you should unfortunately report it to the staff. Hopefully he is just talking out of anger, and will eventually calm down.

Either ignore and live with it, or document with screen captures and send those to the staff.

Ignore it, for now...it's really not worth it. IF anything is said that is offensive or inflammatory (other the the DR threats), I would send the link to staff. What a jerk!

I think you've done the right thing in sending documented evidence to the staff. I have absolutely no anger toward you so please don't be offended by this question: do you think any of his(?) anger toward you is justified?

I think that's harassment. Inform the staff through feedback and show them proof of that (links, screenshots). Otherwise, just be happy that you can answer questions that many of us here can't.

I'd have to agree with a lot of the posters here. That person is acting very juvenile and immature. And sending feedback to the staff is an excellent idea.

I seem to have a few ABers that love to D/R-5's on sight of any of my Q's or A's and a fair few lower ones ...lol .. but I have not had any of them say it publicly ... just report this fool to AB staff they should do the right thing by you and P/B the cretin..:)

Jerv, this is a coincidence, but somebody downrated my answer yesterday to your past question "How many people out there like me and how many think I am a pain in the hindquarters?" I complimented you in my answer, and yet my compliment gets downrated. (See my answer to your past question). I don't know why somebody would be so mean. :(

File the link to his public proclaimation away for future use. Then report it to the AB powers that be. Then everytime you are DR'd and you suspect this person to be the culprit, report it to the AB powers that be and make sure you give them the link where he made his original claim. A public proclaimation on line of such intentions is known as "hanging oneself".
