no, i dont...i think emo kids are just kids being kids. When i was that age i was all about punk rock...i guess it's teenagers trying to stand out from their parents and be what they think is themselves. See when you are that age you aren't free to do much of anything, your parents tell you what to do and who you can talk to. Teachers do that too, kids don't have any freedom like adults so when it comes to style of dress that is one of the few outlets they have... PS i am awesome and I should be a counselor

Actually most emo kids are middle class. They are just like every generation before them that are trying to stand out while fitting in. They are reveling in their own delusion of uniqueness, which makes it decidedly not unique. In other words, they are teenagers, and thank GAWD we all grow out of that phase.

Emos, like punks, and rockers, and hippies, and goths, and most every other youth group are looking for something real in a world that seem to be created and shaped (and owned) by everybody else but them. Probably a gross oversimplification, but it seems there must be some common factor there. Why else would we get such youth groups in every generation ?

it depends on wether you mean emo as in the cutter or the dress sense. cutters dont do it for attention - not proper ones atleast. the emo craze with black is attention seeking to some point.

Yes and no. A number of them are upper-middle or upper class. Unlike punk, where it was a lower class sub-culture, Emo tends to involve people who really have no reason to be a mopey and moody as they are.
